COUNTERTOPS

A countertop is a horizontal work surface in kitchens, bathrooms, workrooms etc. It is frequently installed upon and supported by cabinets! Some common countertop materials are: Granite, Quartz, Marble, Laminate and Wood. embee & son, inc. offers 5 different materials from which to choose!

Quartz

Quartz Countertops

When selecting a Quartz countertop, know there is a large selection of colors. Quartz is man-made and they generally do not contain a pattern. They are mostly uniform throughout a single slab and from one slab to the next. Quartz countertops are typically able to withstand heat and are resistant to scratches, nicks and cuts. You may cut directly on this type of countertop without risk of damage to the countertop, although you will likely dull or damage your knives. These countertops allow you to use any type of sink including under mount sinks. We carry Hanstone, Silestone, Corian Quartz, Cambria, CaesarStone, Recycled Glass, Wilsonart and LG Viatera. Quartz countertops are commonly found in a kitchen or bathroom, but can be used throughout your home.

Laminate

Laminate Countertops

Laminate countertops are the most common type of countertop. They are well known for their affordable pricing and large selection of colors and finishes. Laminate countertops require the use of a drop in or deck mount sink and usually show seams in corners and long countertop runs. The three brands of laminate we carry are Formica, Wilsonart, and Pionite. Laminate countertops can be used in the kitchen and bathroom as well as throughout your home.

Solid Surface

Solid Surface Countertops

Solid Surface countertops allow both the sink and back splash to be perfectly integrated and “seamless”. Solid Surface tops provide a large selection of colors and allow more versatility in sizes, shapes and edge profiles than most other types of countertops. Solid surface is nonporous, easy to clean, and renewable. It is mold, stain and bacteria resistant. Solid surface tops are almost completely repairable and renewable, so fear not! Solid surface countertops allow you to use an integrated solid surface sink or an under mount sink of your choice. Solid surface seams are generally undetectable. We carry Corian, Wilsonart, Formica Solid Surface, Hi-Macs Volcanics, and Hanex. Solid Surface countertops are commonly found in the kitchen or bathroom, but can be used throughout your home.

Wood Countertops

Wood Countertops

Wood countertops are popular in kitchens for their warm organic texture and function. Wooden counters can be used safely around stoves and sinks. Kitchen counters are often sealed with a food safe oil finish that is safe for direct chopping. Wood counters for kitchen islands offer many advantages. They can be constructed to any size in one piece. This eliminates the worry of an unsightly seam common with island countertops constructed of granite or stone slabs. Wood also absorbs sound and helps quiet a kitchen full of guests and its forgiving nature avoids accidental chips to fine china and stemware. Wood surfaces are also very popular for bathroom vanity countertops and tub surrounds.

Granite

Granite Countertops

Granite countertops provide a wide variety of colors and patterns. They are generally able to withstand heat and are extremely resistant to scratches, nicks and cuts. You may cut directly on this type of countertop without risk of damage to the countertop, although you will likely dull or damage your knives. Seams in a granite countertop are visible. This material allows you to use any type of sink including an under mount sink. Granite is a highly polished natural surface and is shinier than quartz countertop material. No two pieces of stone will be exactly the same, so we recommend anyone purchasing granite to preview or hand pick the stone to be used in your home. Granite countertops can be used in the kitchen and bathroom as well as throughout your home. We also offer a service to seal your granite investment.
